Stone cottage under Chopok peak – 1,985 m a.s.l.

The history of the stone cottage dates back to the fifties of the last century. In the past, it served as a dormitory for cableway workers, later the cottage was used for commercial purposes.

The stone cottage Kamienka is the third highest situated cottage in Slovakia built at the height of 1,985 m a.s.l. under the peak of Chopok (2,023.6 m a.s.l.). The cottage has a unique location, right on the ridge of the Low Tatras, as evidenced by a beautiful view of picturesque Slovakia. It currently serves as a tourist dormitory with a capacity of 20 persons.

The reconstruction of the stone cottage took 4 months due to unpredictable weather conditions typical for the alpine environment. It was a big test for the installation company PAMASTAV s.r.o.,but everything was managed successfully.

The roof is made of TATA STEEL ColorcoatPrisma® material in the thickness of 0.70 mm and surface finish of 50 μmin the rally red RAL 3020 colour, the same material was used for the facade in the anthracite RAL 7016 colour. The roof covering was processed using the method of folding which is the most rigid and suitable method for this type of environment. The cottage is fitted with KJG semi-circular gutter system using TATA STEEL Colorcoat® SDP 35 – RWG material the anthracite RAL 7016 colour. There were also reinforced hooks with snow catchers installed for the safety of the cottage visitors.
