Chimney cladding

Chimney cladding is a process used to protect the chimney against adverse weather effects, but also to achieve a more aesthetic look. These are just a few of the benefits that cladding will bring you.
The main purposes of chimney cladding
Here are some other benefits that may convince you that chimney cladding is a good choice for your building:
- Protection from water and moisture – cladding protects from rain and snow, which could penetrate the chimney and damage its structure. Cladding also helps prevent smoke condensation, which causes corrosion of the chimney interior.
- Aesthetic look – can improve the look of the chimney and can be matched with the overall design of the building.
- Extension of service life – cladding reduces the risk of mechanical damage, protects masonry against erosion and generally extends the service life of the chimney.
- Better flue gas removal – cladding ensures proper function of the chimney and better flue gas removal that does not seep into the surroundings of the chimney.
There are several solutions and types of cladding. It can be used in the upper part of the chimney on the chimney head, on the chimney joints or around the chimney body. The cladding can be in the form of a chimney skirt or a chimney cap.
Materials for chimney cladding
A number of materials can be used, with the most widely used being:
- Galvanized sheet metal – the most commonly used material, which is affordable and resistant to weather conditions.
- Copper sheet – is more expensive, but it is resistant to corrosion and has a very long service life.
- Titanium zinc sheet – has excellent resistance to corrosion and is very durable.
- Aluminum sheet – is lightweight and cost-effective but is less resistant to damage.
