STN EN 612

STN EN 612 is an European standard which specifies requirements for eaves gutters and rainwater down-pipesmade of sheet metal. It deals with characteristics, design system, classification, designation and requirements on the quality of gutters.

The Standard contents

1. The standard applies to metal gutter systems made of:

• galvanized steel,
• titanium zinc,
• copper,
• aluminium,
• stainless steel. 

2. It defines the dimensions and shapes of gutters and downspouts, determining standard sizes and geometric properties.

3. It determines mechanical strength, i.e. resistance to load, water pressure and weather conditions.

4. It determines resistance to corrosion, i.e. requirements for protection against rusting and long-term service life of materials.

5. It also determines test methods and procedures for testing the strength, tightness of joints and surface finish.
